Fifty-six percent of Americans say Ukraine’s fight is important to U.S. national security. Voters want a negotiated solution, but they also believe President Donald Trump has been too harsh on Volodymyr Zelenskyy and too lenient toward Vladimir Putin by a margin of two to one.
The conversation also examines the political forces shaping those views: Trump’s influence over MAGA voters, Laura Loomer’s shift on Ukraine, the approaching U.S. midterm elections and whether changing relations between Washington and Moscow could benefit Kyiv.
Nesho also discusses Europe’s defense “confidence gap.” Two-thirds of European voters support higher defense spending and nearly three-quarters favor an EU army. But only about a third believe their country is prepared for a major crisis.
