Eddie Scott came to Ukraine from a life at sea, working on luxury superyachts and travelling the world. He planned to volunteer for just a few months. Four years later, he is still in Ukraine.
On January 30, 2025, Eddie was severely wounded when a Russian FPV drone struck the evacuation vehicle he was driving in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. He lost his left arm and left leg.
Eddie survived, with his mind — and sense of humor — intact. But he didn’t leave Ukraine. Today, he works at Superhumans, helping other English-speaking patients through their rehabilitation and sharing his experience with people around the world.
This is the story of a British volunteer who left a safe and comfortable life, survived a devastating attack, and found a new purpose in Ukraine.
