Amy Reifenrath edits IAM’s English language content. Born in the U.S. city of Portland, Oregon, she learned her craft at The Oregonian, the state’s largest newspaper, where she worked for 19 years and stood out for her careful editing and exceptional headline writing.
She later expanded her skill set by working for creative agencies, e-learning companies and their clients, which included Charles Schwab, Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America, the American Medical Association, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. She eventually owned and operated her own editing business with a roster of six clients that included creative agencies, regional banks, an e-learning company and the global humanitarian aid organization Mercy Corps.
Amy most recently spent four years at Voice of America, where she edited breaking news, investigative pieces and award-winning documentaries on human rights and press freedom for audiences across six continents. Her work has earned top honors from the New York Festivals TV and Film Awards and the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association. She holds a master’s degree in English from Portland State University.
Her idea of fun is reading about U.S. and world affairs, laboring to exhaustion in her garden, watching wildlife, and snuggling with her 16-year-old cat, Rodney.
